Everyone wants to enjoy a backpacking trip with all the necessities. Here is some tips on packing a backpack to make a hassle-free trip.
ABC'S OF PACKING AND G AS WELL
A - Accessibility
Keep things that you need during the day near the top of your pack so you don't have to rummage through you pack to find that essential rain gear or sunglasses, etc.
B - Balance
A balanced pack is a happy back. Keep items that are heavy such as your stove; close and centered in your pack so there is less weight pulling off your shoulders
C - Compressibility
G - Gongshow
To maxmize space compress items as small as possible that aren't required during the day like you sleeping bag and misc clothing. Dehydrated food will cut down on space and weight significantly but doesn't offer the same nutrients as fresh food. Try and include some fresh food with your meals, the extra weight is worth it.

Pack with the idea of a slim and compact unit, avoid attaching loose items to the outside of your bag and secure items such as water bottles firmly and balanced to your pack. This will help you avoid those awkward snags of tree branches while on the trail.

Remove your sleeping bag divider to maximize your space by stuffing misc clothing down and around your sleeping bag.
A smaller bag will force you to be creative in your packing methods, just make sure to bring the essentials.
Avoid packing things in seperate stuff sacks to reduce weight and maximize your space. Remove your tent from its stuff sack and stuff it along with those less accessible items. Keep your poles at the back of your pack along the ridged frame to protect them from stress.
